Rac is used as feed additives for transfering adiposetissue to muscle tissues in pig. Because lots of countries (ex. EU) regard it as growth hormone,import of Ractopamine remaining meat is banned. PrincipleThe Ractopamine chromatographic diagnostic kit is based on the specific immuno-chemicalreactions between antigen and antibody. It relies on the competition between Ractopamineresidues in the sample and the Ractopamine immobilized on T line on the membrane for theRactopamine antibody-dye conjugate. If the drug is presenting in the sample, it will compete withthe drug immobilized on T line, to the limited amount of dye-antibody. When a sufficient amount ofdrug in the sample is presenting, the drug will saturate the antibody. Thus it will show an extremelylight or even invisible T line, indicating a positive result. If there is a negative sample (or the amountof the drug is lower than the minimum detectable concentration 5ppb), it will generate two obviouslines in both the T and C line section.3.
